Data attribution

CarPilot is built on open data. This page says whose it is, under what licence, and where to get the derived databases the app ships.

OpenStreetMap

Road names and road geometry in CarPilot are derived from OpenStreetMap.

Derived databases

ODbL section 4.4 asks that a derived database, once publicly distributed, be offered under the same licence. The databases CarPilot ships are listed here. Each is a plain extract — road names, road classes and polylines — and each is offered under ODbL v1.0, the same terms as the data it came from.

• road_names.json — named roads with their geometry, used to show which road you are on.

The CarPilot app itself is not a derived database and is not covered by ODbL. If you want an extract that is not listed here, email charles013500@gmail.com and we will publish it.

Government open data

Where CarPilot uses public-sector data from Taiwan, it is used under the Open Government Data License, Taiwan, and the providing agency is named in the app under Settings → About → Data sources.

Weather

Current conditions come from Open-Meteo, used under CC BY 4.0.

Maps

Map tiles and the route drawn on them come from Apple Maps through MapKit, and carry Apple's own attribution on the map itself.
